It seems all that’s needed is some kind of movement of a toy, and my cat is in instant hunt mode! This little automatic cat wand rolls and unrolls a string at random moments, so the attached soft caterpillar toy bounces and wiggles up and down in the air. My cat loves jumping up to get it and bat at the moving caterpillar. It’s so fun for me to watch her and the best part is that it’s not my arm getting tired moving the toy on the wand! The little egg-shaped machine charges up by USB cable and turns on with a single button. It doesn’t make too much noise, so it doesn’t scare my cat or really bother me when in use. I can wind the string around the spindle as much as needed to bring the caterpillar up to a good batting height. It came with two adhesive mounts, so I mounted the backboard in two different places and move the machine back and forth between them, depending on where we want to play. It’s a new and interesting adventure for my cat, and so far, she’s really enjoying it!

My cats like this little toy! It was easy to assemble; I just knotted the string through and around the yellow rod. The blue egg-looking part slides into the mount, and the 3M adhesive has stuck so well, even when my cats try to run off with the toy. The string hasn't broken, and they haven't been able to pull it off the door frame where I can it mounted. I love that there's a button on the front to easily turn the wind up option on and off. It makes a little noise while it's on, so I turn it off at night. The like to watch it go up and down, but they even like to play with it when it's off (by trying to run off with it and watching it fling back). At the time of purchase, this was $10.99, which is great. It's rechargeable (just slide it out of the mount and plug it in with the provided cord) which is great. It comes with an extra mount and adhesive, so you could easily move it to a second location if you wanted. I'm really pleased with it and so are my kitties!
